Aromatherapy Candles

I recently added aromatherapy candles and other scented candles to my site so I found this article quite interesting and was given permission to share it.  I hope it is informative to you.

Aromatherapy Candles And How To Evoke Different Moods

By: Bennett Diaz
For your wedding anniversary this time, you planned a lovely evening, complete with a sumptuous dinner by the candle light. Though everything went right according to your plans, it were the candles that spoiled the evening. First, the table got all dirty with burnt wax all over it. Second, the soot and smoke marred the romantic atmosphere.

The ordinary candles that we get in the market are made out of paraffin. Paraffin is a petroleum-based product and thus results in more soot and smoke when the candle is burnt. So, if you are using these candles, be prepared for the unclean burning. However, if you want to avoid these, go for aromatherapy candles.

Aromatherapy candles are made from essential oils of plants. And lighting the room is only a secondary feature of these candles; the primary use is in stimulating oneself physiologically and therapeutically. It is well known that aromas and fragrances are effective for evoking mood and emotions. So if you are looking forward to romantic evening, just use aromatherapy candles and see how your beau says just the right words.

The market place has a wide range of options for you to choose in aromatherapy candles. Choose from floating, pillars, gel, votive and jar candles. If you are free and want to do something creative then go for designing aromatherapy candles for yourself. It is easy. You must be aware of the basic preparation method and have a knowledge of essential oils. And lo! Your candle is ready.

Lavender is the most popular oil used in the preparation of these candles. Light a candle when you are taking bath. Or place a candle by the dining table. Lavender has stress relieving features and will keep you stress free for the entire day.

You have a large choice in fragrance too. Just understand the mood you want to stir up and make your choice. If you are suffering from sleeplessness, you can use Sage, Chamomile, and Ylang Ylang. Looking for uplifting mood, use Rosemary and Grapefruit induced aromatherapy candles. Similarly, there are candles with aromas of Eucalyptus, Geranium, Peppermint, and many more.

The wax used for preparation of the candles must preferably be natural. The soot released from paraffin candles has been associated with many diseases. Vegetable based wax like soy, palm and beeswax burn clean and for long. They release less soot.

However, while purchasing aromatherapy candles, one must be cautious. What is sold as aromatic candles may be made of synthetic wax and fragrances. These may be toxic at times. So choose the aromatherapy candles with care.

The Beauty of Spring!

SPRING...my favorite season of all!!  It is a time of rebirth.  The early blooms of the flowers, the newly formed buds on the trees just waiting to open up with their colorful beauty and scent of freshness.  The birds are singing gloriously and just waiting for us to put out fresh bird food and water for them.

It is such a pleasure to walk outside in the morning and feel the fresh new energy of Spring!

Trimming, pruning, planting, adding the beauty of freshly potted colorful flowers around the yard and home. Just being able to work with Mother Earth is so energizing and grounding.  It always brings me a sense of peace and gratitude.  It is a time of looking in awe at what the season brings us each year.  Being able to enjoy the longer days of sunlight alone brings me great pleasure.

It is a time of awakening not only for the trees, flowers, and animals but a time for us as well.  A time for us to grow and bloom.  A time to look within and energize ourselves.

It has been a time for me personally to take part in Energy Healing.  There are so many wonderful Energy Healers now that are committed to helping us awaken and heal!   What a great time to take part in this healing tradition!

I have had two such sessions with results that have produced more than I could have ever hoped for.  It is an exciting time to take part in such healing.  What better time to make a positive vibrational shift?!

If you have not ever considered it or maybe thought about it, now might just be the time.  It will help you create a positive shift within yourself.  A time to bloom and grow...just as Spring offers us through the gifts of Mother Earth.

May you all be blessed with the newness of the season in all areas of your being!

Spring Forward!

Kathy

Being in Balance

I have recently been feeling out of balance in my home.  After pondering why...I came up with the answer.  It was time to make a shift within my home.  Everything felt cluttered even though I keep a clean house.  Well, try to most of the time!

I started with the closets.  I cleaned out what I no longer needed in all of them and then organized them neatly.  For example I have a towel/medicine closet.  The towels and washrags were all untidy and there was outdated meds that needed to be thrown out.  So after cleaning that one up, I started with my "junk" closet.  It was a mess.  I threw out stuff that I just don't use or need anymore and then straightened that up.  I was starting to feel better already!

I finished up with every closet, except my daughter's closets (Yikes... I would have been in hot water there!), then moved on to the laundry room and did a pack it up, throw it out, and clean it up there as well!  I could feel like I was really accomplishing something now.  The balanced feeling was much better but not quite right yet.

I decided it was time to move to the kitchen for some additional organizing and cleaning of the cupboards and then the fridge.  (Note..I still haven't made it to the upright freezer yet...I made the excuse to myself that I had to wait until more food was gone first.  That way I wouldn't have to move it all to the ice chests.  The food is gone but, ugh, I do not like that job at all. I am trying to talk my husband into that one.  He always does such a great job!   ;-)

OK, everything is now cleaned and organized and I was really feeling better.  As I looked around my living room and back deck, I decided that they really just needed a few new items.  You know, just spruced up a little.

I purchased a cute red toboggan birdhouse and wooden bird feeder to hang from 2 of the light posts on the deck.  Then I bought some yellow and purple pansies and put out 2 mixed pots of those. (Where I live they look good until spring.)  Done with the deck and didn't have to spend a fortune to just make a difference in how it makes me feel whenever I look out there!

On to the living room.   I took out 2 strings of white lights that I had bought after Christmas on sale.  I strung them around 2 of my large houseplants and lit them up.  It really adds a great effect to the room in the evening.  I plugged them in almost every night.

Lastly,  I purchased a few new candles with some nice candle holders and put them around my living room and in the center of my kitchen table.  I light those up at night too!

That was the final touches.  I now felt more balanced within myself and my home and I didn't have to spend a lot to do it.  The cleaning and organizing took some time but we had some cold winter days and a few days off from school, so it was a great time to get that done without feeling stressed about it!

So, if you are feeling a little out of balance, look around and see if  there might be a few changes that you can make that just might make you feel better as well!

If you get the notion to, I just added some new decor products to my site that just might interest you.  You can check it out here:

Tips for Choosing the Right Birdhouse

A birdhouse is an alternative way to provide nesting for birds. Ongoing real estate construction and logging leads to the removal of trees. This is one of the biggest reasons that birds lose their natural habitat. If we are taking away their homes, we need to find ways to give their homes back. Birdhouses can easily be found in stores, through online shopping, or you can build one yourself. There are many different types of decorative birdhouses available. With all of the nice designs, styles, and colors available, it would be easy to find one that suits your style. A decorative birdhouse is always a charming addition to your home or garden!

Whether you go shopping for a birdhouse or you choose to build one, you must consider what kind of bird that you want to attract to your yard. Different species demand different types of homes.
For example, wrens prefer small, ordinary homes while a purple martin requires a bigger home, a bigger entry, and it must be painted white on the outside.  You will need to insure that all paint is water based.  Chickadees are attracted to birdhouses that resemble wildlife. If you would like to place a birdhouse in your garden then the bird that you might attract would be the Finch. They would have no problem living close to your home.
Of course, you will need to consider what birds live in your area. You might need to do some additional research to insure that you will be meeting the needs of the birds that you want to attract into your yard. There is lots of information available on the Internet.

Of course, you don't want to forget to add a bird feeder or two. This also helps to invite birds and provides food while they are raising their families!

The fine feathered friends that you will attract will bring you much pleasure! It is worth taking a little extra time to meet their needs!

Inspiration

I would like to post a quote from Dr. Wayne Dyer that I find truly inspiring. He is a great spiritualist and teacher.

"Raise Your Energy Vibration"
"Every thought that you have impacts you. By shifting from a thought that weakens to one that strengthens, you raise your energy vibration and strengthen yourself and the immediate energy field."
You can visit his daily affirmations here:

I hope that your day is filled with joy and laughter!
